s for this trip, nicknamed “The trip of a lifetime”?

A one year trip from London to Cape Town, crossing the expanse of about one hundred countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

This exploration trip is aimed at seeing as many cultures as these countries can offer, the natural beauty and animals - and whatever the group might find fascinating.

The trip will be undertaken in a specially designed and built 4x4 truck, in the true tradition of overlanding in Africa, with three highly qualified Crew members from South Africa and a maximum of 14 fellow adventurous explorers from around the world.  During this time everybody will stay in comfortable tents or guesthouses.  Each explorer will have their own tent with a camping bed and comfortable mattress.  That is of course if you don't want to share with a partner.

The trip is designed to include only a few definite dates, making the rest of the trip an organized exploration along the predetermined general route.  The definite dates of course include the start and end dates, and chosen dates of main festivals in Europe, as indicated below:

Start in London in England                                     1 May 2008

Running of the Bulls in Pamplona in Spain     7 July 2008

La Tomatina in Valencia in Spain                        29 August 2008

Munich October Fest in Germany                        29 September 2008

End in Cape Town, South Africa                         30 April 2009

To facilitate the arrangement of visas, the rest of the trip is divided into several smaller parts, each with their own start and end dates.  With no other fixed dates and no fixed itinerary planned between these start and end dates, explorers on the trip along with their guides have the opportunity of exploring the countries which we will be visiting.  This means that if a particular area is found to be good for certain activities, the group can stay for a few days - or the opposite - affording explorers the opportunity to tell the guides if there is a particular part of a country that they would like to see, or a specific sight that might be worth visiting.  In this manner th

e best of all the countries can be seen and enjoyed.  For a more detailed listing on possible places to see in the various countries and activities to do at certain places, refer to the detailed itinerary of the four legs.  The cost of the main activities mentioned, such as the climbing of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, rafting the White Nile and others, are all included in the price.

The entire trip is divided into four legs, in order for explorers to join at pre-selected times for specific parts or legs of the trip.  This gives explorers the opportunity to join the group for the whole year or for only a part or leg of the trip. Please note however, those explorers that would like to join for the year will have first preference in terms of bookings.  The dates for the four legs are:

The Complete Trip of a Lifetime    1 May 2008 to 30 April 2009

Leg One:                                            1 May to 31 August 2008

Leg Two:                                            1 September to 18 November 2008

Leg Three:                                         19 November 2008 to 27 January 2009

Leg Four:                                           28 January to 30 April 2009

This trip will be adrenalin filled with strange places to be explored, new cultures to be enjoyed, and many exciting activities to be done.  Not something for the faint hearted.

It is possible that political or other reasons forces the trip to take another direction or for certain parts to be rearranged - or even cancelled.  This will be part of the trip as the safety of explorers and crew is of the utmost importance.
